I then BOUGHT it to support the label in their efforts at promoting this kind of lovely stuff. I assume and very much hope that they pass some of the profits on to the artists/composers. I would not have bought it had I not heard it here, simply because I did not know it existed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280287980706008561.post-16977070995139622932011-07-09T09:35:15.770-07:002011-07-09T09:35:15.770-07:00Label may complains, but this review made me buy t...Label may complains, but this review made me buy the disc...Lerainenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280287980706008561.post-604140272340074022010-12-30T16:07:44.579-08:002010-12-30T16:07:44.579-08:00In response to the criticisms made about blogs kil...In response to the criticisms made about blogs killing labels I think it's totally ridiculous. If it weren't for blogs like this I wouldn't know half the music I now love and through such blogs as this one I have made many many purchases from labels such as this one and Soundway for example, music I would simply never have known existed. I now have a part time job doing world music shows on my local radio station in Peterborough Uk and have a really big collection of albums such as these that I have now bought. Face it, people who are not interested in following music with passion would not be looking at these blogs in the first place and I know many people use them to discover new music to buy. Blogs like this are made by people who love music for people who love music, they are awesome. It isn't really that hard. The NumeroGroup's stuff is always lovingly packaged, loadsa detail, I got their Antenna comp, great stuff, with loads of the Factory singles artwork. Very few labels like Numero Group pay for the rights to release this music. Though I must add that the excellent (and now, I believe, defunct) reggae label Blood and Fire did pay some royalties. I bought this album 2 years ago on a international book fair, on a belizean stand. Im sure this disc is one of my favorites on my musical archive lol!
I think the most important satisfaction for the "belize city boil up" is to be heard in many countries. Sharing this kind of music makes amazing musical connections between cultures. The fact remains, with tiny labels this music wont travel long distances. Sharing is the best way to meet new cultures. I've visited many musical blogs and now i can hear many music from all around the world! this way of sharing music is amazing!!! Music is the best human creation ever. Anyways, the labels just want to make money, the benefit for the musicians is shorter. SO, DONT STOP SHARING CULTURE!!!jeypihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09301150199307560161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280287980706008561.post-45841486036213350802008-03-07T00:35:00.000-08:002008-03-07T00:35:00.000-08:00The only things i know about Belize is whrer it is...The only things i know about Belize is whrer it is and that it's capitol is Belmopan. This is the label (Numero Group) and you are doing an absolute disservice to the artists and compilers by allowing others to steal this music. None of us are millionaires. We rely on people actually buying this music, not good will and blog posts.

I'm not going to go through the trouble of getting Blogger to shut you down because it's a waste of valuable time and resources. However, I have already contacted Megaup, share, etc and reported the infringement.

If you really wanted to share this with people, you'd buy ten copies and give them away to your friends and relatives. Instead you're taking what tiny profit is out there for these artists and throwing it in the streets.

Thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280287980706008561.post-32421271086566778872008-03-03T22:39:00.000-08:002008-03-03T22:39:00.000-08:00Hello Matt,Let me point out a few things here. Fir...Hello Matt,
Let me point out a few things here. Firstly, this upload is not mine, I got it from here.
The "Colombia!" one is available on the web from many sources - I could've gotten it here or here; I can't find where I got the link that was posted, but it wasn't mine, either. I am not sure why you consider my activities to be so significant - most of the Soundway catalog is one Google search away, anyway; and what's not on the blogs is available on Soulseek, DC++, the torrents etc.etc.

Secondly, you may be correct assuming that people who download these albums would've otherwise gone and bought them from the store. I doubt that assumption. I believe that most people who download these would've otherwise never heard of them, and never bought them. There is a comment in the post directly preceding this one that proves exactly the opposite of what you are assuming: a visitor heard the album and now he is going to buy a copy for his parents.

Thirdly, I am not sure why you are taking the higher ground here. You are speaking for the copyright holders, presuming that they somehow profit from your mixes, but suffer from my shares. From your latest post it appears that the labels don't see that fine difference between your activities and mine.

I am sorry that you are seeing things this way. OTOH, I came across your blog earlier and downloaded some of your excellent shares - thank you! Too bad they expire so fast, though.LesTPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05249671749064147443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280287980706008561.post-48929219415777786462008-03-03T11:14:00.000-08:002008-03-03T11:14:00.000-08:00you are killing the work of legit small labels LIK...you are killing the work of legit small labels LIKE SOUNDWAY and othersAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280287980706008561.post-46145117825874675322008-03-01T09:31:00.000-08:002008-03-01T09:31:00.000-08:00Link doesn't work for me.
