  1. Too young, I'll bet.
I'm 62 and remember him like it was yesterday.

  2. Lately I don't often think of myself as "too young", but I guess you are right...

  3. He was a big influence on Rory Gallagher, "as the crow files" and he wrote Steamy Windows for Tina Turner. You should check out his album Tony Joe , great tracks on it.... Stud Spider being one that comes to mind

  4. Because you weren't on planet Earth in 1969? I was only 11 in '69 and I remember it.

  6. Well yes, I wasn't - but why isn't he more famous? I know plenty of people who were dead before I was born...

I really like that sound. CCR is a good reference point, but to me he sounds more like Slim Harpo and other "swamp blues" people off Excello label.

  9. Hi!
Always LUVED this song! Peaked at # 8 on US charts (his only Top 10 Hit). He has 3 other Top 100 hits. Great Southern "story telling" songs. This is off his 1969 "Black & White" LP, and although this is the "highlight", rest of LP tells great stories too. Have the LP as MP3, and willing to share. Contact @ 29musicman@gmail.com
